Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this Food Service Aid vacancy, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum Grade 10 qualification or equivalent (ABET Level 4 or N1)
- Ability to read and write
- Good communication, interpersonal, and numeracy skills
- Ability to cope with the physical demands of the job
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays
- Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team
- Willingness to rotate between different areas within the food service unit
- Commitment to performing all general food service duties as required by the supervisor
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
- Performing routine tasks within the food service unit
- Assisting with pre-preparation and preparation of meals, including normal and therapeutic diets
- Serving food according to approved portion control measures
- Maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards in the kitchen
- Operating kitchen equipment and machinery safely
- Reporting faulty or lost equipment and identifying potential safety risks
- Assisting and relieving other staff members when required
- Rotating through different food service areas and attending job-related training
- Carrying out any lawful instructions from supervisors
