Novartis is offering learnership programmes in three (3) different specializations for those who are passionate about joining an international medicine company. The Novartis Learnerships is a series of 12-month programmes conducted in the area of Gauteng. Each of these learnerships consist of theoretical learning sessions and practical working periods under a real-time company setting. Through either one of these learnerships, you will gain a better perspective on how a medicine company operates from the yes of a direct employee. Whether you will be dealing with business acumen, or diving into the scientific research part of these learnerships, you will have nothing to lose from joining these programmes.
The Novartis Learnerships will be conducted through a variety of mediums. Depending on the field you will choose, some sessions are conducted through online learning platforms or face-to-face theoretical assessments. The theoretical aspects of the learnerships will be conducted for more or less six (6) months of the programmes. Afterwards, you are expected to put your theory into practice by delving into the company. - Hold a university degree in science, business, marketing, or an equivalent field, as this is preferred
- Demonstrate strong scientific understanding, analytical capability, and attention to detail
- Adapt, organize, prioritize, and perform effectively within a matrix environment as part of a team
- Apply knowledge of internal and external ethical standards relevant to the pharmaceutical industry, as this is advantageous
- Display excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities
- Uphold high personal integrity while contributing effectively to teamwork and maintaining strong customer focus
- Manage projects efficiently and show a strong drive to deliver scientific tasks on time
- Maintain a valid South African driver’s license with 2–3 years of clean, unendorsed driving experience

- Hold a science degree or a Basic/Post-Basic Pharmacy Assistant qualification; experience in quality assurance will be considered an advantage
- Demonstrate strong time management and communication skills, and engage in effective cross-functional collaboration, networking, and relationship-building
- Manage projects efficiently, including overseeing budgeting responsibilities
- Understand the pharmaceutical supply process and recognize the role that Quality Assurance plays within it
- Apply knowledge of compliance requirements such as GMP, GDP, and ethical standards, and acknowledge their importance in ensuring medicine quality
3. Finance Learnership (Job ID: REQ-10068302)
- Earn a bachelor’s or four-year university degree, preferably in finance or a related discipline
- Obtain a Chartered Accountant qualification if possible, as it is preferred
- Demonstrate a solid foundation in finance with strong familiarity in financial controlling and accounting processes
- Apply without concern for prior work experience, as none is required
