
Tharisa Minerals, through Karo Platinum Private Limited, is building a major Platinum Group Metals (PGMs) mining and processing project in Zimbabwe’s Great Dyke. They use proven technology and follow responsible mining practices. To support this, they are looking for reliable Laboratory Assistants to join their team. There are 3 openings, and this is a unique chance to gain valuable experience in a growing mining operation.
What Will You Do as a Laboratory Assistant?
As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the Geology Department by helping to handle and prepare samples from drilling activities. Your work will help process around 2,000 samples monthly, which is vital for speeding up operations and reducing costs. Your main tasks will include:
- Receiving, labeling, and sorting geological samples from drilling.
- Assisting with sample preparation like weighing, cleaning, and basic crushing, all under supervision.
- Keeping sample storage areas neat and organized to protect the samples.
- Following all safety rules when handling materials, using proper protective gear, and reporting hazards.
- Helping to maintain a clean, safe, and compliant laboratory space according to mining standards.
What Qualifications and Experience Do You Need?
- At least 5 O-Level passes including Science subjects, or something similar.
- A certificate in Laboratory Techniques or a related area is a bonus but not required.
- Around 2 years of experience working in a lab or mining setting is preferred.
- Entry-level candidates with proper training will also be considered.
- Basic understanding of safety practices when handling samples and lab tools.
