What Will You Do as a Truck Driver?
Your main task is to deliver goods to customers on specific routes on time. You will also check orders before delivering and unload trucks carefully. Customer service is important, so you need to be polite and helpful when you meet clients.
Here are the detailed duties you will have:
- Check the vehicle before leaving to make sure it’s safe.
- Load and pack products on trucks the right way.
- Deliver orders on your assigned route.
- Pick up recon pumps from customers.
- Keep in touch with the logistics foreman during deliveries.
- Unload goods based on what the client needs.
- Confirm with customers that deliveries meet their expectations.
- Get proof of delivery from every customer.
- Collect orders from local suppliers and deliver raw materials back.
- Report any items you can’t deliver or collect to the foreman.
- Tell the foreman if the truck needs repairs or maintenance.
- Follow the maintenance schedule strictly.
- Be ready to work extra hours if needed.
- Clean up your work area after every shift.
- Let management know quickly if there are any problems or shortages.
- Make sure all your licenses, permits, medical certificates, and safety training are always current and with you.
- Do any reasonable tasks management asks of you.
What Skills and Qualifications Do You Need?
- At least 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- A valid driver’s license and your own transport are required.
- A clean driving record is important.
- Strong customer service skills to interact well with clients.
