Role Overview
The Class Assistant plays a vital support role in the classroom, working closely with the phase teacher to ensure smooth daily operations and a safe learning environment. The assistant will help facilitate learning, manage resources, provide individual learner support, and contribute to broader school activities.
This is not a teaching position, but it is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who wish to work in the education field, particularly in early learning and childhood development. You will gain practical experience and exposure to the dynamics of classroom management and learner engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Assisting the teacher in managing learners during lessons and breaks
- Supporting classroom activities and group work
- Ensuring the availability and proper use of teaching aids and classroom resources
- Helping learners with basic tasks and ensuring their safety and well-being
- Managing and safeguarding school stock and classroom materials
- Supervising learners during sports, cultural, and outdoor activities
- Helping with classroom set-up, displays, and general tidiness
- Assisting with learner documentation and school admin when required
- Promoting a nurturing and inclusive learning environment
- Demonstrating consistent professionalism and a positive attitude
Minimum Requirements
To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
- A formal qualification in Early Childhood Development (ECD) is essential
- Previous experience working in a classroom or educational environment is an advantage
- A clear criminal record and willingness to undergo background checks
- Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken)
- A passion for working with children and a commitment to their development
- Patience, emotional maturity, and ability to work as part of a team
- Physically able to support young learners and perform basic tasks throughout the day
- Willingness to align with the school’s values, mission, and standards
