About the Role
The Soup Truck Driver position is perfect for people who are passionate about food delivery and providing excellent customer service. As a driver, you will transport Shoprite soups safely to various locations, ensuring timely delivery and maintaining the highest quality standards. You will also interact with customers at delivery points, assist with truck maintenance, and support inventory management.

Key Responsibilities
Driving and Delivery
- Operate the soup truck safely to deliver soups to assigned locations.
- Follow designated routes and schedules to ensure timely deliveries.
- Adhere to all food safety and transport regulations during deliveries.
Customer Service
- Engage with customers at delivery points in a friendly and professional manner.
- Provide information about the soups and respond to customer inquiries.
- Ensure each customer has a positive and enjoyable experience.
Truck Maintenance
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the truck is in good working order.
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance and report issues to management.
Inventory Management
- Assist with loading and unloading food supplies and inventory.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and report any discrepancies.
Safety Compliance
- Follow traffic laws and all health and safety guidelines.
- Ensure food products remain safe and of high quality during transport.
Additional Duties
- Be prepared to work on weekends as required.
- Support kitchen and management staff where necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
Education & Experience
- Minimum Grade 10 or equivalent.
- Previous driving or food delivery experience preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Code 10 driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Professional Driving Permit (PDP) is an advantage.
Skills and Attributes
- Excellent driving skills and knowledge of local routes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with customers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic math skills for managing cash and inventory records.
- Attention to detail in following delivery procedures and maintaining food quality.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift heavy items and be on your feet for long periods.
- Able to work in different weather conditions.
