About the AVI Job Vacancy as Forklift Driver 2025
AVI is now searching for applicants who would like to obtain an employment opportunity as a professional Forklift Driver based in Kempton Park, Gauteng. The AVI Forklift Driver position is designed to ensure smooth and efficient warehouse operations by managing a range of critical logistics tasks. This includes the safe and timely offloading of incoming vehicles, the proper handling and sorting of CHEP pallets, and the accurate loading of goods for distribution. In addition to these core duties, the role supports overall warehouse functionality by assisting with related material handling and logistics activities, helping to maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment.
You will be required to perform the duties below:
- Operate a forklift to unload incoming vehicles safely
- Arrange and stack inventory within the warehouse efficiently
- Pre-check vehicles and stock for contamination in accordance with food safety standards before unloading
- Achieve the vehicle turnaround time (TAT) targets established by the business
- Handle stock and pallets carefully to prevent any damage
- Unload empty pallets from incoming vehicles
- Inspect and sort pallets, separating those in good condition from damaged ones based on CHEP standards
- Count empty pallets daily and report the results to the Receiving Supervisor
- Maintain cleanliness and order in the pallet storage area at all times
- Stack and store pallets correctly, observing maximum stacking height limits
- Securely wrap broken pallet pieces to ensure safe handling and loading
- Load pallets for return to CHEP and distribution to factories
- Pre-inspect vehicles for contamination in line with food safety requirements before loading stock
- Support Despatch Loaders by placing stock onto vehicles according to supervisor instructions
- Follow vehicle TAT schedules set by the business
- Load heavier items at the bottom and lighter items on top for stability
- Ensure no damaged pallets or stock are loaded onto vehicles
- Rearrange or de-stack stock as needed to fit vehicles safely
- Distribute stock evenly to ensure stable and balanced loading.
General Responsibilities as Forklift Driver
- Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to move materials within the warehouse or worksite
- Load and unload goods from trucks, pallets, and storage areas
- Inspect forklifts daily to ensure they are in good working condition and report any maintenance issues
- Follow all safety protocols and workplace regulations while operating equipment
- Organize and stack materials in designated storage areas according to company procedures
- Assist with inventory management, including tracking and recording stock movements
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate material handling
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe environment
- Handle materials carefully to prevent damage to goods or equipment
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor related to warehouse operations.
