About the Service Consultant Role

As a Service Consultant, you will be the first point of contact for Nedbank clients. You’ll guide them through different banking services, teach them how to use self-service and digital tools, and handle basic cash transactions.

Your role is essential in making sure every client has a smooth and positive experience at the branch. From helping someone download the Nedbank app to assisting with deposits or withdrawals, you will be there every step of the way.


Key Responsibilities

As a Service Consultant, your daily tasks will include:

Client Engagement:

  • Greet clients and help them with their banking needs.
  • Teach clients how to use digital and self-service banking channels.
  • Assist clients with downloading the Nedbank app and fixing login problems.
  • Help clients buy airtime, data, or other services using self-service devices.
  • Provide statements, new bank cards, and other documentation when needed.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with clients.
  • Guide clients on how to manage their accounts online.
  • Identify opportunities to recommend additional banking services.
  • Keep clients updated on their applications or queries.

Cash Handling and Business Operations:

  • Accept and process deposits, withdrawals, and transfers.
  • Balance and secure branch stock, such as cards and cash.
  • Load cash into ATMs and perform first-line device maintenance.
  • Control queues and give priority to clients with special needs.
  • Safely destroy old or expired banking materials.
  • Ensure proper handling of inter-bank transfer documents.
  • Minimize losses by reporting cash discrepancies immediately.
  • Assist clients with foreign currency requests and transactions.

Risk and Compliance:

  • Follow all policies and procedures to prevent fraud.
  • Maintain strict control over cash and drop safe limits.
  • Verify client identities and authenticate transactions carefully.

What Nedbank Looks For

To qualify for this role, you must have the right skills and experience. Here’s what Nedbank requires:

Education:

  • Minimum: Diploma (NQF Level 6)
  • Preferred: Higher Certificate in Banking Services (NQF Level 5)

Experience:

  • 1–2 years of experience in retail banking or customer service.
  • Experience handling cash and resolving first-line technical problems.
  • Foreign exchange experience is an advantage.

Skills Needed:
