Weir is now offering theoretical knowledge and practical skills to individuals focusing on the SHE department through their beneficial learnership programme. The Weir SHE Learnership is designed to enhance occupational health and safety standards while creating a sustainable pipeline of skilled safety professionals. This initiative forms a key component of Weir’s broader skills development strategy.
Participants in the program receive on-the-job training aimed at improving and sustaining the Africa SHE Management System. Responsibilities include performing administrative duties, controlling documents, and updating SHE Management System records in compliance with ISO and Weir Group Standards. Learners also coordinate and maintain SHE Electronic Management Systems by managing documentation and inputting accurate data. Throughout the program, participants are expected to demonstrate complete commitment to Weir’s “zero harm” behaviors, supporting the organization’s goal of building a world-class safety culture.
