About the Role
As a Practitioner Communication, you’ll be responsible for keeping Sasol Mining’s surface and underground teams informed, engaged, and aligned with safety, operational, and cultural goals. You’ll deliver targeted messages, coordinate events, and create content to build a strong workplace culture.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Communication, Journalism, or related field (NQF 6/7)
- Employee Engagement or Events Management certification (advantageous)
- 3+ years’ relevant experience
- Fluency in isiZulu or Sesotho
- Proficiency in tools like Canva and SharePoint
- Strong crisis communication skills
Key Responsibilities
Operational Communication
- Develop mining-specific communication strategies
- Use platforms like shift briefings, SMS alerts, and digital displays
- Ensure messages align with safety protocols & company objectives
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Create two-way communication channels (feedback boxes, surveys)
- Share team success stories & highlights
- Work with shift supervisors and union reps for relatable content
Content Creation
- Produce videos, infographics, and multilingual newsletters
- Deliver real-time updates during incidents or shutdowns
Event & Campaign Coordination
- Organise events such as Safety Day and family visits
- Lead recognition programs like Super League Awards
Compliance & Brand Alignment
- Meet mining regulation requirements (MHSA, SLPs)
- Follow Sasol brand guidelines
- Track communication effectiveness with measurable metrics
