What the Job Is About
As a Store Cleaner at Dis-Chem, your job is to make sure the store is always clean and hygienic for both staff and customers. You’ll be keeping all areas of the store neat and tidy — from the sales floor to the back rooms and even the canteen.
Here’s what your daily tasks might include:
- Cleaning the shop floor, stock rooms, dispensary, admin office, toilets, and canteen.
- Making sure everything is neat before the store opens.
- Using the right cleaning products and tools for different areas.
- Replacing toilet paper, soap, and paper towels in restrooms.
- Keeping an eye out during the day for any mess and cleaning it up quickly.
- Making sure warning signs like “Wet Floor” are up while cleaning.
- Always being polite and helpful if customers ask for assistance.

What You Need to Get Started
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- At least 6 months of cleaning experience
- Able to speak and understand English clearly
- Basic customer service skills
- Must be willing to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays
- A second local language is a bonus
Nice-to-Haves (But Not a Must):
- If you can speak more than one language
- If you’ve worked in a retail store cleaning role before
