Key Responsibilities
As a General Assistant at Vaal Central Water, you will be expected to carry out various critical tasks that ensure the smooth running of operations. Your role will involve both physical labor and technical assistance, providing an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the utilities industry.
Some of your primary responsibilities will include:
- Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance:
- Washing and maintaining company vehicles, tools, and equipment to ensure they are in top working condition.
- Pipeline Maintenance:
- Assist with the repairs and maintenance of bulk pipelines, including excavation, replacement, bedding, and filling of the pipelines.
- Inspections and Reporting:
- Conduct weekly inspections of pipelines, manholes, and reservoirs, and provide detailed reports on their condition.
- Pump Station Housekeeping:
- Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order at pump stations across the region.
- Repairs and Maintenance on Pumps and Valves:
- Assist with the repair and maintenance of pumps, valves, and plant equipment used in the water treatment process.
- Welding and Digging:
- Perform manual tasks such as welding and digging trenches when required.
- General Maintenance Tasks:
- Cleaning, painting, grass cutting, tree felling, unblocking sewer lines, and general sewer plant maintenance.
- Take part in civil work, terrain maintenance, and gardening tasks to ensure the surroundings are kept in good condition.
- Safety Compliance:
- Ensure all activities comply with company regulations and safety policies. Always wear the required safety gear and observe safety protocols.
- Other Duties:
- Carry out any other tasks as assigned by management from time to time.

Minimum Requirements
